Likeness and voice consent

What Clipsy requires before it uses a real person's face or voice, and how to withdraw.

Last updated September 7, 2026

When consent is needed

Clipsy does not clone a face, a voice, or a person avatar from an upload alone. The person shown or heard must accept the current consent text, provide three to five reference selfies, and pass a two-frame gesture check. A voice sample must contain one speaker, last twenty to sixty seconds, and be in one of the eight supported languages. Brand mascots without a human face skip all of this.

What the check does

An automated check asks only whether the images show the same single adult face and whether the gesture changed naturally. It does not identify the person or infer anything about them. A failed, uncertain, or unavailable check goes to a human review queue; nothing is rejected silently. A provider voice is created only after verification.

Consent versions

Consent is versioned: likeness, voice, and avatar video each have their own text, stored with a hash of the canonical English wording. Every version says what the media is for, that outputs will be labelled on the platform, in the file, and on screen, and that the output may never be presented as a synthetic consumer review or testimonial.

Withdrawing consent

Revoke from Settings at any time. Revocation disables consent immediately and queues removal of consent media, provider voice copies, and cached generation inputs, with a 72-hour target. Provider failures can delay completion. Existing finished videos remain available under normal retention rules, but the verification record stops showing the revoked likeness as active. Revocation does not remove copies already downloaded or published elsewhere.

Account deletion

Deleting your account runs the same purge before the account record is removed.

Labelling

Every video made with a consented face or voice carries the machine-readable manifest, the platform AI flags, and a visible badge. The badge cannot be turned off for these videos.

The consent texts

The current wording of each version is shown below exactly as it appears in the app.
